Description: Waiting for your purchase is this lovely vintage pottery planter, which probably dates to the 1940's or 50's, during the heyday of American pottery production. It might be Hull, but then again, I think it could be McCoy or even a totally different pottery. I am usually good at identifying pottery, but this is a stumper for a couple of reasons. First, is marked "USA" which was found on some McCoy. But, then the color is olive with seafoam drip, notably used by Hull. Whoever made it did a quality job! It is beautifully designed, with an oval shape over a footed pedestal. Ribs or gadrooning go around the bottom of the planter body and are repeated in the foot. Two dramatic scrolls give the piece an elegant look. The maker's mark, USA, is VERY difficult to find. It is written vertically on one end of the base or foot, and it is almost unnoticeable because of the heavy glazing which has pooled in the letters. This is a very pretty planter and it is in great condition. It doesn't look to have ever been used. It would make a fabulous addition to a collection of vintage planters.
