Gustave Verbeck (AKA Gustave Verbeek) was the creator of the turn-of-the-century comic strips "The Upside Downs of Lady Lovekins and Old Man Muffaroo", "Terrors of the Tiny Tads" and "The Loony Lyrics of Lulu".
It was his Upside-Downs, however, that inspired Hank Arakelian to create this mini-comic, which is actually his second attempt at an UpsideDowns-style story. The novelty (and genius) of Verbeck's strips was that the story continued when you turned the paper upside down (hence the name). The images were drawn in such a way that they could serve double duty and that's what Arakelian has attempted here with his tale of Sisyphus.
Arakelian's other work includes the Crackpots & Visionaries card set (he served as editor) produced by WFMU or his self-published The Awful Truth Comics.
