The purpose of the independent research elective is to produce an original piece of research that extends knowledge beyond material covered in the Business Management Program. The project can be related to a major option, a minor, or an area of interest within the Faculty, for example, topics in entrepreneurship. To be allowed to register for BUS 720, a proposal detailing the project (topic, methodology, and expected outcomes) must be pre-approved by both the academic subject area and the Director. A faculty supervisor is required to guide the student through the project, provide advice, establish deadlines, and recommend a grade for the completed project. In order to gain the proper approvals before the semester begins, the following application deadlines shall apply: If elected in the Fall, application must be made before the end of February. If elected in the Winter, application must be made before the end of October.
