Victorian wall shelve with carved deer head
Hand carved deer head is mounted on crest.
This is a real Victorian piece in original finish.
The wood is Mahogany or walnut... not sure, piece needs to be cleaned up, it looks like it has coal dust on it. It probably spent along time in someones attic. Pieces that look like this are often found in attics that contain coal dust from turn of the century coal burning factories in New England towns. This piece is in very good condition consirdering that it is a fragile piece. Some of the points of the ornamentation have what looks to be chips of finish missing and appear lighter, other than that piece is very good. Deer head has two holes at the top and my guess is this piece once had a set antlers.
Measurements: 14 1/2" tall x 11 3/4" wide x 6" deep.
