Starting with the 1921 yearbook, as the agriculture of the United States was experiencing a severe economic depression, it was determined to devote the available yearbook space to the economic situation as it affected the farmer. 1921 dealt with wheat, corn, beef and cotton. 1922 dealt with hogs, dairy products, tobacco, small grains other than wheat, and forestry. This 1923 volume deals with sugar, the sheep industry, our forage resources, the utilization of land for crops, pasture, and forests, and the economic aspects of land tenure, and a special report on the wheat situation made to the President on November 13, 1923.
