This curious piece is an egg boiler, the sort of item found in use in the middle and end of the 19th century. It appears to made of aluminum dipped in brass decorated in a rococo revival style embossed with figural cupids, dolphins and hens. Complete with an insert to hold 6 eggs, and a spirit lamp. The piece show some rust spots, and one of the legs has pulled away from the bottom plate which holds the spirit lamp. Please see our detailed images. The egg boiler measures 11 3/4" high.
