Antique Victorian sterling silver hallmark buttonhook with mother-of-pearl handle. The handle is hallmarked but not identifiable, and it is so small that my poor old eyes cannot read it, even with a magnifying glass however, I believe that the hook part is sterling silver (?). I included photographs of the mark, and maybe you can see it on your computer? This charming little sterling silver mother-of-pearl button hook measures about 2 ¼” long from end to end, and is about ¼” across the mother of pearl handle at the widest point. I think these miniature button hooks were used for button up style gloves. There is a design on the silver part above the mother of pearl handle, and below the ball shape. The mother of pearl handle is in good shape with some tiny pinpoint spots where it connects to the sterling silver. When I examine it under magnification and under certain angles of the light, I see one or two tiny almost invisible insignificant scratches or flecks in the mother-of-pearl. I gently hand polished this button hook, but the buyer may want to polish it some more.
