Hello. I spent nearly 10 years selling on that other site (you can check my feedback there; It's under the same ID as this one). But I thought I'd give this new site a try.

Loud, heavy and precise: this is the sound of Helmet. On STRAP IT ON, their debut album, Paige Hamilton and the boys create some of the hardest-hitting metal around. Each song is laden with a saturated distortion that sounds like a Mack truck in need of a tune up, and culminates in a sudden break that sounds like that same truck hitting a brick wall at 100mph.
The critics called Helmet's brand of heavy metal "sludge-rock," but that term implies a sloppiness absent from STRAP IT ON, on which the band sounds like a well-oiled machine. Efficient and impacting, STRAP IT ON earned Helmet an instant cult following upon its release in 1990. Songs such as "Bad Mood," "Sinatra," and "Blacktop" are grunge classics.
Ranked #25 in AP's list of the `Top 99 Of '85-'95' - ...STRAP IT ON remains the quintessential anti-metal metal album. Page Hamilton's minimalist riffing is direct and crunchy and his guitar solos are mercilessly abrasive....the songs are further rammed home by Hamilton's hostage-taking vocals...
Alternative Press (07/01/1995)
4 Stars - Excellent - ...a mix of Black Sabbath, avant-rock minimalism and hardcore/thrash delivery, with gruff vocals, arsequake dynamics, densely squalling guitar layers and sudden time-signature changes that can turn on a sixpence... Flipside (Nov.-Dec./90) - ...Helmet are the living end of any concept you might have on the term heavy. The intensity, release of hardcore, stitched together with the relentless abrasiveness of industrial noise. One of the few recordings you'll own forever...
