If you really want olde fashioned, try raising heirloom fruits and vegetables. They are gaining popularity in farmer's markets around the country. Beside being a hardy grower (in our experience) they offer incredible choices in both color and texture. These ornies represent three varieties of heirloom tomatoes. Included are Abraham Lincoln, Cherokee Purple and Golden Treasure. All three varieties are from days gone by.
These tomatoes are made out of muslin, then painted to match their living counterparts and then grunged with a mixture of coffee, vanilla and cinnamon. Each has a hang tag that labels that variety. The Abraham Lincoln and Cherokee Purple are 3.5 inches in diameter and the Golden Treasury is about 3 inches in diameter. If you like these please take a look at our other vegetable ornies and coordinate them for your own harvest table.
