Description: Here's a tiny gold pin for the Alice L. Phillips Junior High School in Wellesley, Massachusetts. It's a two part pin, with a thin chain joining the two parts. The larger part shows what appears to be a runner bisecting the 1930 date. Around the rim, in dark blue enamel panels, are the words " ALICE L. PHILLIPS", "JUNIOR", "HIGH", and "WELLESLEY". The smaller part carries the phrase, "ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR US".
The back of the large portion carries the word "GOLD" above a diamond shaped trademark containing what appears to me to be a backwards letter "B" joined with a "K". Underneath the trademark appears to be the word "FRONT", although even under strong magnification it is hard to make out as it appears to have been double-struck, making it rather muddled. Also present are the original student/owner's initials, "D.M.C.P." There are no markings on the back of the smaller portion.
Each part of the pin has its own pinback and clasp.
Actual Size: Main part: approx. 3/8" x 3/8"; small portion: approx. 1/4" x 1/4"
Condition: Very good, I'd say. The pin shows a little bit of wear, but not much. (Please see my high-res scans.) The chain is intact and firmly attached to both portions. Both pinbacks and locking clasps are in working order.
