Ben Sheets is a Milwaukee Brewers pitcher. He was the Brewers' representative at the 2001 All-Star Game. Ben was the top starter on Tommy Lasorda's 2000 United States Olympic team, allowing just one run in 22 innings during the Sydney Games. In his first start, Ben allowed just four hits and shut out Japan for seven innings. He later threw a three-hit, complete game shutout vs. Cuba in the Gold Medal game. Ben returned to Milwaukee the next day to witness the Brewers' final game at County Stadium and he was greeted with a rousing ovation by more than 56,000 fans. For his Olympic efforts, he was the easy choice as USA Baseball's Player of the Year.
