This is an awesome rendition of "Ku", one of the 4 earliest and highest Hawai'ian Gods, together with Kane, Lono and Kanaloa. This particular Ku Tiki is the perfect companion to our 20" Kanaloa !!
Ku is the God of Protection and Longevity, and of Forests, Wild Places and Crops, certain Crafts and is the Ruler of the ancient people. In his most well-known form, Kuka-'ili-moko, he is the God of Conflict and War and in this form, was the personal God of the great King Kamehameha I.
Ku represents the East, and the Rising Sun, and the morning hours belong to him. In some forms, he is associated with sorcery and is also often invoked when healing herbs are gathered.
Ku provides strength, drive and determination, inspires motivation and greatness, confers positive energy and frees an individual from his or her faults and errors.
This Ku Tiki Statue, affectionally called "Fat Ku" is a very impressive piece due to its size (height and width) and full-length Headdress.
It is new, hand carved in partial relief from wood and painted a natural, earthy dark brown. It is approximately 20 inches high, 8 inches wide and 3-1/2 inches deep. All dimensions are approximate and through the highest, widest and deepest points.
This Tiki stands on its own, and can easily be modified to hang on a wall. Each tiki statue is individually hand crafted and although the facial expression and other details are intended to match the temperament of the diety, each statue is a unique original. Hence, certain differences in the carving detail, grain and color of the wood, etc., should be expected.
