A modern young couple, unmarried but committed, pool all of their resources in order to purchase and renovate a Victorian home in San Francisco's Pacific Heights. By renting out the lower level, they can just get by. Their tenant turns out to be more than they bargained for, but trying to evict him sparks an ever escalating war they can't afford to lose.
A young couple buys their dream house in an upscale San Francisco neighborhood, intending to renovate it and rent out the lower levels in order to pay the gargantuan mortgage payments. Everything goes well and they lease the first apartment to a nice Japanese couple. Unfortunately, they aren't quite as lucky with their second tenant, Carter Hayes, who won't pay the rent, makes strange noises in the middle of the night, and appears to be breeding cockroaches in his studio apartment. They try to evict him and discover that he has sinister plans in store for them -- and that getting rid of a tenant is easier said than done.
