I have never seen any tapestry beadwork cluster earrings quite like these! These 1950s beauties are signed West Germany under the goldtone clip and are composed of reddish-orange Art Glass beads. The 10 larger outer beads are molded halves that fit with a mate to give the illusion of one large bead.
These are a great find with the condition and craftsmanship being MOST excellent! Here's what the Kovels had to say about German & W. German jewelry:
"The European country, by hand, created exceptional examples of costume jewelry. The costume jewelry, the old style designs of Germany and West Germany, were probably produced in the 1920’s through the 1950’s, and were similar to those of Miriam Haskell, Original by Robert, Stanley Hagler and De Mario. Costume jewelry made in West Germany is becoming scarce and hard to find." There you have it from the mouths of the experts!
*Typical age-wear noticeable only upon CLOSE inspection. It is VERY RARE for vintage/antique jewelry to entirely escape the tolls of time. :(
