Two compulsively watchable B-movies are presented here. In SOUTH BEACH (1992), two retired football players (Fred Williamson and Gary Busey) concentrate on living the good life in Miami. In their spare time, they're private eyes--but their party-hearty lifestyle is thrown for a loop when they accept a mysterious challenge from an exotic beauty. This oddball, noirish drama also features a cameo from Peter Fonda. The underrated SOUTH BRONX HEROS (1985) tells the story of two plucky children who escape from their foster home with evidence that it doubles as a pornography ring, and enlist the aid of an unconventional lawman--a smooth-talking ex-con played by the terrific Mario Van Peebles--to capture the porno king and his accomplices.
