This charming old pair of hand made cloth dolls is estimated to date back to the 1920's or 1930's? Their clothes and bodies are a little tattered and torn here and there, and they have some stains and soil. I love the leather shoes on the woman's feet. She is wearing a classic style pink dress with real pockets, and is wearing old stockings that have "seams" on the back. Both of these two have hand embroidered facial features. The hands have been detailed to show the fingers, and the lady even has red "nail polish" embroidered on the tips of her fingers. The man has lost one of his leather shoes (photo), along with most of his hair. The cloth on the man's torso may have been re-covered at some point (probably long ago?), and it is a little whiter in color than the other parts of the man's body. There are no buttons on his shirt or on the back of his pants. The lady is about 14 1/2 inches tall, and the gentleman measures about 13 1/2 inches tall. These two are from a local estate, and they were very appealing to me. They do have some condition issues, but are really not too bad. I can imagine these under the tree in a Victorian Christmas setting. What a unique and wonderful gift for that special collector.
