This is the second of countless versions of the famous book by the Baroness Orczy, and, even though it lacks the technical superiority of more recent productions, it is by far the best of them all. Everything just seems to fit. The movie is exciting, romantic and mysterious and it certainly has you on the edge of your seat on the first viewing. The story sticks very closely to the original Orczy novel with only the finale being changed slightly. This change in fact is a vast improvement to the original ending. This movie comes out of the Alexander Korda stable. Korda was a master film maker who excelled in producing adventure pictures about 18th-19th century England and her empire.
