Salvia elegans 'Golden Delicious'
The Pineapple Sage is one of those beloved plants passed from gardener to gardener, prized for being a showstopper starting from late fall through winter with lots of precious, velvety, ruby-red, tubular flowers that are smothered with hummingbirds and butterflies. Salvia elegans 'Golden Delicious' is a rarely offered/seen and relatively new variety, so you won't see it being passed around. Has the same blooms and exude the same pineapple scent as the species, but its tender, serrated leaves are a beautiful golden chartreuse color. Easily placed in the garden with tall perennials and shrubs and adds a touch of brightness and contrast to any areas. Hardy from zone 8 onwards. 4 feet tall, 3 feet wide. Full sun, and any well-drained garden soils.
