Sequel to the Silent german horror classic der golem 1920. Initially planned to be filmed in germany the films production was relocated to france due to anti-jewish sentiment building in Nazi germany. In this film the rabbi from the first film has died and the germans continue their slaughter and persecution of the jewish population. A new rabbi waits until the right moment to release the golem in order to save the day. Clearly political, the film would soon become all to real with the atrocities that would soon befall the Jews of Europe.
