Recast from original molds in 1980s to early 1990s by Mexican operation that had acquired numerous Marx molds after the Marx Company declared bankruptcy in 1979.
The Marx Polar play set also doubled as their IGY Arctic Satellite Base play set released in conjunction with IGY's (International Geophysical Year ) 1957-1958 research project in 1958 when the company added Cape Canaveral play set accessories to the basic arctic set.
