This Art Deco figural powder jar is known as COURT JESTER and referenced on pages 44-45 in Whitmyer's Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years. The patent for this jar was obtained by Jerome E Baum in 1929 and it was made by Taussant Glass and usually filled with Dermay powder, although some of these jars have been found with a Wrisley Quality powder label.
The powder jar lid has a figural finial a Harlequin Jester's head with ruffled collar atop a rounded lid on a twelve footed crenelated base. The jar and its lid measures about 4 1/2 inches tall x 5 1/4 inches across the base, with the exceptions of wear to the silver, due to age, both lid and jar are in excellent condition.
