As infrared is a high directivity, the receiver's wicket should be just opposite the transmitter's wicket and must be in the range of 30°in all directions to the transmitter. Otherwise it will not work. According infrared is also with the visible light ability, the receiver could also get the signal via the refiection.

Notice: As infrared ray is easy to get interference under sun shine; the sensitivity and the distance range will be much decrease.
