Impatiens niamniamensis 'Kitty' 3.5 inch Pot Plant PARROT Congo Cockatoo V RARE
Impatiens niamniamensis 'Kitty'
East tropical Africa is the home of many unusual, bright and beautiful birds. And incredibly, some of these can even be found on this extremely rare perennial evergreen plant, :-). Growing tall with thick, upright succulent branches, the Parrot Impatiens is a dramatic yet easy houseplant, possibly the most beautiful one that will ever flower indoor. It blooms repeatedly, and all over the plant close to the stems to create a stupdendous effect. The amazingly bizarre flowers are amusing -- they are odd, helmet-shaped, waxy, each yellow and orangy-red with a light green "hat". To some, they resemble parrots, and to others, candy corn, but to all that have seen them in person, they are exotic, and simply beautiful. Deep green, glossy, tropical looking leaves. Hardy from zone 10 onwards. 3 feet tall and wide. Part shade. Rich, moist but well-drained soil. Regular watering. One of these pictures compares the foliage and flower of Renata (left) with that of Kitty (right).
Plant picture taken on 08/27/2012.
This is for a live mature plant in a 3.5" pot, blooming. Does not set seeds readily, grown from cuttings.
