AFRICAN MAASAI MORAN BELT - MADE IN TANZANIAThis is abeautifully handcrafted belt. It is a belt, traditionally worn by theMaasai Moran worriors. Young Maasai men must serve as Moran or cattleguard-warriors for several years before they are permitted to marry.As a sign of his status every moran carries a short sworn or long knifein a leather sheath which is suspended form this belt. The belt wouldbe made by the young moran’s mother. It is worn tight around thewaist, with the points pointing down. It is created from seedbeads carefully woven together with string threads and can be fastenedwith a leather thread/string (not included). The backing is made ofleather and decorated beautifully with Maasai beads and metal pieces atthe end to secure the holes. This piece has been heavily used and wasobtained from a Maasai moran in Tanzania. This has been handmade inTanzania.The belt measures 31.5 in length,and measures1.25 inch wide of the beaded strap and 7.25 inches wide on the main decorated portion. This would look great on any womans waist or for decoration. Please see photo for details. There are some beads missing, very few.
