This is a handwritten, unpublished manuscript entitled Breves Nociones de Historia Contemporanea de Bolivia. It is written in brown ink and features a hand decorated, 7x9 blindstamped tan cloth binding which is dated 1887 from La Paz. The initials BR are on the front, possibly indicating that this was written by Belisario Diaz Romero. [Laid in towards the rear of the book I discovered a printed sample title page for Primeras Notions de Historia Natural by Romero that is dated 1893. The inside leaves and rear are blank, only the front is printed]. 53 pages are covered with neatly written Spanish text - the rest of the lined pages are blank. Nice calligraphy was used for the title page and subheadings. The brown ink has faded somewhat but is still legible. In 1887 Romero would have only been 17 years old so I cannot be sure this was written by him (a school project?). There are a few corrections visible and one sentence has been overwritten in blue ink. The final line on page 53 reads: Gobierno del Sr Gregorio Pacheco. Unfortunately I have only a rudimentary understanding of Spanish so cannot supply a complete translation of this one-of-a-kind work.
