- 5 Vintage Original 1940 Anti Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), Pro Wendell Willkie GOP Campaign Buttons
- Buttons measure approximately 1.25 inches in diameter
- Authentic period items; not reproductions
In 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) ran for a third term. The Republican candidate, Wendell Willkie, crusaded against Roosevelt's perceived failure to end the Depression and his supposed eagerness for war. Despite Willkie's mud slinging, Roosevelt won the election by a comfortable margin. FDR's election was the only occasion in American history in which a candidate was elected to a third term as president. These Republican political buttons are representative of Willkie's anti-FDR campaign.
Buttons pictured are the actual items for sale. Excellent condition for 71 year old items--very clean. All have pins; some rust on backs.
