This listing is for a vintage needlepoint hand made purse. This is large, measuring about 15 inches across and 13 inches long when laid flat. The needlepoint has a colonial blue background with a floral design in pinks and reds. The purse has the same needlepoint design on the front and back and there is a strip of needlepoint connecting the front and back along the sides. The purse has a full satin lining with two pockets wonderfully crafted to the interior. There is a clear lucite handle with a latch handle. On close inspection I found a few very minor ball point pen marks on the interior satin but the rest of the lining was extremely clean and unstained. The lucite handle has two holes (one on either side) where you can secure a chain to make this a shoulder purse. The areas around the holes shows a few radiating lines that are cracks in the plastic. The plastic is not broken in these locations--just some lines from the hole areas. When I examined the strip connecting the front and back of the purse I found that a 3 inch section along one side toward the top was done in a slightly different color of yarn--a little brighter blue--so maybe the maker ran out of the exact color match. I found some identical matching yarn that was on another canvas and have unraveled several feet and will include it just in case you are skillful enough to replace the brighter blue with the correct color match. (The yarn has kinks since it was used but has integrity.) This is a great piece made by a fine craftsman. It weighs over a pound, so this is a substantial purse. It is from an estate and looks like it was rarely if ever used. ... [full description] |
