The George and Merian Stoll Estate
The Collection of the academy award winning Hollywood composer and his wife. Mr Stoll was one of the most celebrated composers of Hollywood's Golden Era, involved in works such as The Wizard of Oz, Meet Me In St Louis and Life Begins For Andy Hardy. Lot number 5084 is the Oscar Mr Stoll received for his work on Anchors Aweigh in 1945.
In 1960 Mrs Stoll acquired a remarkable set of 13 miniature rooms that had been commissioned by French decorator Georges LeMoussu. These rooms date from the 1920s-1930s and were exhibited at the Galerie Georges Petit and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. They are lots 5069-5075 & 5326-5331. Lot 5063 is a scale model of Ulm Cathedral.
Also included are carved bone miniature items, doll house accessories and other miniature rooms.
