Here is "Last Stand on a Texas Prairie," by William P. Knox which chronicles the history of the Battle of Lyman's Wagon Train and the Battle of Buffalo Wallow in 1874. These two little known battles of the Indian warefare area resulted in 19 men being awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. IF YOU WANT TO READ THE REAL STORY OF ARMY --INDIAN WARFARE - THIS IS IT!! There are two unforgettable quotes. Major Chaffee urging his men to battle said, "If any man is killed, I will make him a Corporal." and The inscription on the tombstone erected in 1925 in Hemphill County, Texas reads:"Here on September 12, 1874, two scouts and four soldiers defeated 125 Kiowa and Commanche Indians.Stand Silent, Heroes here have been Who cleared the way for other men."STAND SILENT!Eight years ago, while searching my families genealogy, I found that my grandfather had been the subject of an article when he had run for constable of Belton, Texas. During my research, I discovered that thousands of our kinfolks lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer's shelf. Since then, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western pioneers. See index below. FOLLOWING PURCHASE AND PAYMENT, IF YOU WILL WRITE ME OF YOUR SPECIAL NAME OR INTEREST, I WILL DO A FREE SEARCH OF MY COLLECTION AND UNINDEXED STORIES AND NAMES.
