I've collected antique lanterns for YEARS. I must have at least 100. But it's time to start turning loose of a few of them.
This is an early auto or buggy lantern (you can tell by the side assembly and jeweled reflector). All the parts appear to be here. Of course it's not "perfect" but considering its age it displays beautifully (You could use the iron mounting assembly to hang this on a wall!).
The Two Big Thick beveled windows do have some scratches but they're VERY clear with NO cracks. Both are curved windows. The back has some sort of reflector jewel (this was so that the people who may come up behind you would see the glow from the red jewel.....Sort of like rear auto lights do today).
The lantern has some minor surface rust, dents and dings but there are no cracks or holes and everything is wonderfully intact (including the burner). The burner appears to be brass....as do the linings around the glass windows and part of the top. To be sure, I took a magnet and tested these places and it didn't stick. So those places are either brass or copper.
It disassembles as shown below. The wick raises and lowers fine.
(but be SURE not to mess with that too much. Raising & lowering a wick adjuster with a "dry" wick is the number one way that these can become damaged.)
Beautiful piece measures 17 1/2" tall, each side is 4 7/8" wide.
There are no markings that I can make out. It's a very heavy piece and obviously very old.
