Get more in the picture with a wide-angle lens and extra zoom:
The DMC-S1 features a 28 mm wide-angle Lumix DC Vario lens with 4x optical zoom (35 mm camera equivalent: 28-112 mm).
The wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or wide architectural structures and landscape shots. The 4x optical zoom with 12.1 megapixel resolution allows beautiful close-up shots when you need to get in close to your subject. The Extra Optical Zoom function uses the centre part of the camera sensor to extend this 4x zoom ratio to a powerful 8.4x zoom at a resolution of 3 megapixel or less for extra zoom power.
A powerful optical image stabiliser ensures blur-free images:
The MEGA OIS (Optical Image Stabiliser) feature compensates for the blurring caused by hand shake. This feature ensures you get clear, sharp images consistently at the press of the shutter button. The MEGA OIS lets you shoot in dimly lit rooms or evening light to preserve the mood, and works for macro shots and zoom shots, which are especially susceptible to hand shake.
Intelligent Auto ensures perfect shots every time:
In iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, four detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimise your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time. The iA mode includes MEGA OIS (Optical Image Stabiliser) to detect hand shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection focus and exposure (AF/AE) to detect and focus on the faces in the frame and Intelligent Scene Selector to detect the best camera settings to use for the scene conditions.
Create high-definition movies and then upload to your favourite social networking site:
Record movies in high definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG format). The DMC-S1 can also upload movies onto YouTube, and photos onto Facebook. All you have to do is checkmark photos and movies you want to share and connect the camera to a computer. Uploading automatically starts just by following the guidance on screen. With operation this easy, you can instantly share your photos and movies with your family and friends all over the world.
Brilliant pictures from any angle:
The DMC-S1's large 2.7 inch LCD features high 230,000-dot resolution. The big screen reflects fine details, making it easy to check the focus before shooting and allowing you and your friends to enjoy viewing your photos and movies together. The High-angle mode makes the display extremely easy to view from a low angle, for example, when taking photos by raising your hand upward to capture the subject over the crowd.
