Heavy Vintage Silver Bracelet Done in Mexican Onyx/Jade, Striking Motifs
This great bracelet is from an estate and is done in 8 sections: 4 links of bezel set rectangles decorated with thin diagonal strips of twisted silver wire, and 4 links of a stylized carved head or mask done in a more triangular shape. Each head "mask" has half round "earrings" in each ear (except for one fellow who makes his own statement with only one). The bezel area is decorated with varying sizes of half round motifs. The stones I've seen referred to as Mexican jade, green onyx, or similar combinations; they are a rich blue-green color that gives a lot of depth to the piece.
The bracelet measures 7-1/4" of wearable length and is about 1-1/8" wide at its widest. The closure for the clasp is marked "Sterling, 925, and what looks like the top parts of the letters for the Spanish "Made in Mexico."
The bracelet is heavy but is comfortable to wear. It would look equally at home with jeans or separates and dressier outfits.
This is a great vintage piece that will sure to become a favorite!
