Obverse: The words THE AMERICAN PROSPECTOR are below the image of a kneeling prospector panning for gold. "U.S.A." is to the left of the image, and the year is to the right.
Reverse: The name ENGELHARD and the words ONE TROY OUNCE 999+ FINE SILVER encircle the image of an eagle with an American flag and an olive branch in its talons.
Condition: This is a stock item that I always have available. The coin in the image above is representative of all the Engelhard Prospectors I have on offer. Good condition, lightly circulated with some minor surface marks. I don't offer coins that are damaged, gouged, scratched or slick. Some may have a little tarnish. As a rule, I don't clean my coins, but you are certainly free to do so, and they will clean up nicely. The scanned images above make the coin appear greyish as opposed to its actual silver color.
Fun Fact: The prospector on this silver coin must, ironically, be panning for gold, as silver is not found in alluvial deposits.
Engelhard is the well respected name in silver bullion, and this coin is highly sought after by collectors and "stackers" alike. These 1 Troy ounce coins were minted between 1982 and 1987, so they are available now only in the secondary market.
