Candelabrum made by Hilario Alejos Madrigal, the same artist who makes the famed ceramic glazed pineapples. Alejos’ home/workshop in San Jose de Gracia in Michoacán, Mexico, is the place to go for fine glazed pottery. The candelabrum is molded of clay, prepared with an added layer of white paste, then fired and then covered with a glaze made of lead and copper oxides and silica and fired again to produce the glasslike finish. This particular piece has an appliqué crosshatch all-over design. The three arms are each decorated with a delicate sunflower. This style of candelabrum is highly appreciated for its elegant beauty.
