He records his day by day experiences getting to the beach sands at Nome were reported littered with gold dust. Sailed under Captain Higgins bound for Golovin Bay, ships mentioned include the Conemaugh, Humboldt, Prosper, Catherine Suddon, Sealandia, and the Portland via Eureka, Seattle, Dutch Harbor, Nunivak and the Bering Sea. Nome had 57 saloons with card games in front and women in back. Relive this great history of the dangers faced on the trip to Nome and the return trip under tow to Seattle. Lots of interesting information documented in this diary but too much for me to recite here. Please look above at ALL NAMES OF IMPORTANCE INDEXED. Eight years ago, while searching my families genealogy, I found that my grandfather had been the subject of an article when he had run for constable of Belton, Texas. During my research, I discovered that thousands of our kinfolks lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer's shelf. Since then, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western pioneers. See index below. I hope you appreciate the effort.
