Bluenose Schooner souvenir plate Adams England hand tinted vintage 1517vf
This lovely souvenir plate commemorates the schooner Bluenose, an undefeated schooner built in Nova Scotia Canada in 1921. She spent her first summer fishing and thereafter began her racing career.
The plate features a hand tinted drawing of the Bluenose at sea in the center and has a 2 inch border of tinted roses and foliage around the edge. It was made by Adams in England and is in perfect vintage condition. There is age crazing typical of ceramics of several years, but no chips or cracks.
It is 10 inches in diameter.
The Bluenose became obsolete along with other schooner fishing boats after WWII. She was sold to work as a freighter in the West Indies where she was lost on a Haitian reef in 1946.
Judging by the history given on the back of this plate, I am placing the age of this as soon after 1931.
