Up for consideration is an antique primitive IRON HOOK obtained from an old railroad track in Washington County, Pennyslvania, over 30 years ago. We know this is even older and is either from a train, or the cargo it carried to the Steel Mills in Western Pennsylvania.Weighing in a 1 pound 13 ounces, this hook is exactly as it was found. The only exception - my Dad (now gone) cleaned an polished it so that even the rough spots are now smooth. We used to collect railroad spikes along the tracks - ones that were discarded and some from abandoned tracks, too.This makes a great paperweight, or can be used as a basis for some kind of project. It measures 7-3/4 inches long and at the widest part, it is 2-3/4 inches. It is about 5/8 inch thick.Certainly, this is a one-of-a-kind item. ... [full description] |
