We mix chunks of Glycerin Soap (a combination of white, Shea Butter, Goat's Milk, Tres Leches, Buttermilk, and Cocoa Butter glycerin soaps) with Black Soap to give you a gentle, natural cleanser that moisturizes the skin.
Our Black Soap comes from West Africa (Ghana)- it is all natural and does not contain lye. The color ranges depending on the method used for production. Palm oil, palm kernel oil, cocoa butter and shea butter (providing UV protection) are commonly used as base oil, and the potassium hydroxide (potash) is derived from the plantain skins (giving the soap Vitamin A, Vitamin E and iron), cocoa pods, shea tree bark and the by-products of shea production.
Black soap has been used to clear acne and even out the tone of your skin. It comes from Ghana as a crumbly block of soap. When it gets wet, it becomes more soft and pliable, so remember to keep your bar dry to prevent it from becoming mushy and melting. You can purchase one of our soap dishes to help the water drain and increase the longevity of your soap. Storing your ButterChunk Soap in a plastic bag or enclosed container helps keep its form and density. If you prefer to have your soap "on hand," using a soap dish will cause your ButterChunk Soap to get more transparent and pliable, due to its exposure to the moisture in the air. This does not at all affect the quality of the soap.
Our glycerin soaps are made from natural ingredients that cleanse while hydrating the skin. We take pride in our ingredients and take great care to provide quality products. The chunks of glycerin soap inside the Black Soap compliment each other, giving your skin the ulitmate bathing experience.
Each bar of soap is 5-5.4 oz
The soap dish is a necessity in promting longevity with your organic soap. Glycerin dissolves quickly in water, so you'll want to keep your soap nice and dry. After each use, rinse and pat dry with a cloth. Our Cedar Soap Dish allows the excess water to drain off of the soap. The stock for these wooden soap dishes came from large blocks of mill end surplus, a material which may help reduce strain on our natural resources. 100% natural, no varnishes of any kind. The natural properties of cedar will help protect it in wet environments. Please note, as this is a natural product, color and tone may vary.
