My knowledge comes from reading the stories of the great painters. One thing for sure, most of them do not achieve great fame until their death. There was one exception and his story as covered in this lovely tribute and admiring article entitled: ROERICH’S FAR QUEST FOR BEAUTY. Nicholas Roerich, was a poet, artist and eminent man of learning who had emigrated from White Russia and settled in Paris. He was regarded as one of the most distinguished of the Theosophical elite of the period. Apart from searching for the home of the Mahatmas, the purpose of his scientific expedition across Tibet and Xinjiang to Altai (1923-26) was never made entirely clear in his diary, but appears to have been related to the return of a certain sacred stone to its rightful home in the King's Tower in the center of Shambhala. (Courtesy of Google) This is story as originally written. There were many great stories published about the early beginning of the recognition of Roerich, the artist– a little known story with profound praise of his work and times that I found This is a collector’s item and very hard to find. I hunt them out cause really the better, untold and rarer stories were published in the rest. Here’s one of the best. It’s a shame that our past is being lost. My wife kids me that after I find a piece I like, buy it, read it, research it, take a picture, scan it, write the blurb, pay the eCRATER entry fee and commission, that I end up making about 50 cents an hour. But, OH HOW I LOVE THIS OLD FACTUAL REPORTING HISTORY. What a Rare Item!!! Great Pictures. You will love it as it was saved from this old American news magazine of many years ago. These two pages (8-1/2 by 12 inches) are the ORIGINAL 80-YEAR-OLD piece in excellent condition. As clearly stated in my description, this is featured story saved from a rarely found and seldom read American news magazine. I don't give out name of publication or date because I have caught competitors copying my index and work and trying to sell it as theirs. I hope you understand.
