Classic teacup and saucer from J & G Meakin, made in England. White china is decorated in gold wheat design with gold trim. The mark says Classic White, maybe that is the pattern. The saucer and bottom of the cup have a pretty swirl. Found at a local estate sale, estimate that it dates from the 1960s.
Cup is about 3.3 inches across, saucer is about 5.5 inches across. Good condition. No chips or crazing. Saucer has mark on the bottom, cup has impressed J & G Meakin England on the bottom.
Gold is a little worn in spots, and the bottom of the saucer has a few little dimples and bumps from manufacturing. There could be a crack under the glaze on the bottom of the saucer - doesn't show on top and light has to be just right to see it on the bottom - don't know if it even is a crack but am listing just in case.
I'm including a J & G Meakin bowl of the same pattern, found at the same time. Has the same pretty gold design and swirl, same mark as the saucer. Unfortunately, it has a chip on one edge - see the third picture. It measures about 6.5 inches across, would be perfect for berries and cream with your cuppa tea.
