This compass mosaic is created with Brazilian and Italian porcelain floor tile and measures 23 1/2 inches square. More specifically, it utilizes bone and forest colored Portobello America Ibiza tile with a rialto terra Venetian Stone tile medallion from Ceramica del Conca. The small corners of the frame are travertine of unknown origin. It may be installed on a floor or wall in a square or diamond pattern. Because it is porcelain, it may be placed indoors or out.
Like all pieces available from Rocky Mountain Mosaics, this one of a kind, handmade mosaic is mounted on a flexible mesh backing, suitable for permanent installation in your home or office by any competent flooring installer.
Rocky Mountain Mosaics creates unique, hand crafted mosaics designed to be an enduring, custom addition to your remodel project. Each one is an original, made in the USA by John Volz. I also normally use floor tile so that it may be installed on a floor or wall, and this one is no exception.
Most mosaic artists fashion their work on a hard backing, grout it, and leave it to you to figure out how to hang a heavy, cumbersome monolith on your wall without destroying the wall or the artwork in the process. RMM is different. Mine are meant to look like you commissioned the piece yourself and had the artist working in your house, and this is why I try to tell you exactly what type of tile was used in the creative process. That way, you can design your remodel utilizing the same tile that was used in the mosaic if you wish, giving you a seamless match between the original artwork and the rest of the wall or floor. I was a tile installer before I became a tile artist, and my experience in the field has given me more of a sense of the importance of a smart, trouble-free installation than most. The beauty of this item, like all mosaics, will drastically improve after grouting.
I can create something just for you if you desire, contact me for details.
The Compass Mosaic sells for $189.00 US.
I ship worldwide. S&H for this item is $45.00 US in the continental United States, and $105.00 US everywhere else. It is heavy, fragile, and packaged accordingly.
