This variety produces sweet, red tomatoes that are very uniform and round. Very small core with large fruits (12-16oz.) It was developed by the Research and Development of Campbell's Soup Company over 50 years ago. They designed it with primarily Soup in mind. However, this variety is great for canning, slicing, eating fresh, or making salsa, tomato sauce, and of course, tomato soup! The plants are very sturdy and productive, even in unfavorable conditions. They are resistant to Verticillium Wilt, Fusarium Wilt, and Alternaria. They are also crack-resistant. I have grown them in severe drought conditions as well as in hot, humid conditions and they have done very well. This variety is reliable and one of my favorites. I make sure I grow plenty every year because I know that no matter what the weather will be, these will produce for me!

Last year, this variety was replaced with a newer variety named Campbell's 33. I couldn't find one other seed company that still sells this variety. The newly developed variety isn't nearly as good as the original and has much less "tomato" flavor. So, if you are looking for the original, heirloom Campbell's tomato, make sure that you purchase the one that says specifically Campbell's 1327! And you may want to save seeds from this variety. As everyone transitions over to the new Campbell's, this variety will become harder and harder to find!
