A wonderful example of Japanese paper design and craftsmanship. This lovely box is made of rice paper applied to cardboard or fiberboard. (Quite sturdy whatever it is.) It has paper cutouts applied to each side and on the top. The knob is layers of cardboard with cutout on top. The inside is lined in paper that has Japanese characters printed on it. In the bottom is a yellow plant-like cut-out design.
The outside of the box is 6 inches square by 4 inches high. The opening is 3½ square by 3 high. The box is in perfect condition. The color is gray paper with navy cutouts and various colors added to the top. The inside paper is aqua.
