The European fan palm (Chamaerops humilis) is native to the Mediterranean and is found from sea level to over 3,000 ft. in elevation. In its native habitat it often receives snow cover. It is one of only two palms that are native to Europe. As you might expect, it is reasonably cold-hardy and has survived temperatures as low as 10F. once established. As a suckering type palm itis also easier to protect when small due to its compact nature. The suckers can be removed by pruning if a solitary trunked palm is desired. These seeds were collected from palms in South Carolina during December of 2010. This sale is for twenty seeds and shipping is free to mainland U.S. and Canada only.
