The Buddy Holly Story (1978) - Full Screen & Widescreen Version
Starring Gary Busey, John Goff, Conrad Janis, Bill Jordan, Albert Popwell, Maria Richwine, Charles Martin Smith, Don Stroud.
"The Buddy Holly Story" tracks the career of one of America's foremost pioneers of rock and roll. Buddy Holly (Gary Busey) was stuck in an old-fashioned world that had not yet discovered rock-and-roll. But his passion for the music was so strong that he defied convention to bring his music to the masses with the help of his bandmates, collectively known as The Crickets (Charles Martin Smith and Don Stroud). At first they meet resistance when record producers want to change their music into country tunes. Holly stays defiant and holds out for a record label that will accept his music as-is. The result is that Buddy Holly and The Crickets are launched into music super-stardom. As the road of fame tears the band apart, Holly finds himself drawn to a new love, Maria. This story chronicles the ups and downs plaguing Holly, The Crickets, their relationships, and the music. And this movie pays a touching tribute to Holly's sad exit from this world.
