This is a lovely vintage glass ball ornament designed by Lowell Davis and made by Schmid in 1986. It is "Christmas at Red Oak". It depicts a small town wooden frame church which has many cars around it because it is filled with folks celebrating Christmas Eve there. The image is done in blue tones with a golden glow from the church windows, and the image of Santa walking from a white country farm house with a picket fence around it, about ready to enter the little church with his bag of toys. The general store is on the lower left. Lots of little details like a tire swing in the yard of the house, farm equipment by the farm house garage, old time gasoline pumps in front of the general store, a wreath on the church door and the pretty church steeple. Makes you want to just climb into the scene and partake of the celebration of an old fashioned country Christmas. Make sure you read Lowell Davis' paragraph about his picture and what it meant to him. It is 3" in diameter and the ornament is in excellent condition. It comes in the original box which has some bends and creases and the inner portion of the light carboard box has some light tan spots from age.
